William Eldred's map ("The Platt of Dover Castle Towne and Harbor") of 1641 shows the approximate extent of the town and harbour in the mid-17th century.

Description

The maps comprise 11 large maps and are held in the archive of the Dover Harbour Board in Dover (as of 2016). The first map, which shows the whole town, is schematic but very detailed. The scale is 20 rods to one inch. Kent County Council Heritage Conservation hold digital copies of the maps
