Full Description

An archaeological evaluation was undertaken by Oxford Archaeology at Russell Street car park, Dover, ahead of plans to construct a multi storey car park at the site. Three trenches were excavated revealing a series of deposits dating to between the early Medieval period to modern. Trench one revealed a wall aligned north-south and an associated gully and soakaway. The deposits below these features have been dated to the late 13th century while those overlying it date to the late 14th century, therefore a likely date which may be attributed to these features is between c. AD 1250-1399. (1)
