Full Description

From the report:"a north‐west/south‐east aligned metalled hollow way (Group 10018/ ‘trackway 27’) leading towards the settlement area"; "East to west aligned hollow‐way G11018 was also re‐identified in this area and investigated by the cutting of a single 1m wide slot (S20025; see figures 4 & 5). At this location the feature measured some 4.65m wide with the base sealed by a 2.1m wide deposit of metalling formed by small to medium rounded flints. Small quantities of animal bone were recovered from this deposit. A series of wheel‐ruts, approximately 0.16m wide and between 0.04‐0.12m deep were cut into the surface of the metalling. Following disuse the feature had gradually filled with deposits of clay silt." (1)
