Full Description
During an archaeological evaluation undertaken off Queens Gardens, Dover, 5 trenches were excavated, in trenches 4 and 5 deposits of mixed clay and soil overlay the natural. These soils represent hillwash and contained sherds of Roman pottery and domestic rubbish including tile fragments and animal bones. No structures or features of Roman date were revealed in the excavated trenches and the general impression gained is that the present area lay outside of the main area of Roman habitation, but may have been used for the casual dumping of rubbish.
