Summary
During extensive rescue excavations undertaken across Dover’s Town centre by Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit a series of Medieval features including pits, wells, shafts, boundary walls, tanks, graves and the foundations of former buildings were all located cutting the earlier, underlying Roman deposits of the CLBR fort, Roman Saxon Shore Fort, Roman Military Bath house. Roman Mansio and Saxon churches and Grubenhauses. All of the sites which were investigated as part of the large scale town centre recue excavations which were undertaken in the 1970's and 1980's by Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit, encountered at least one Medieval feature. (location accurate to the nearest 2m based on available information)
