Full Description

Excavation in 2000-2002 carried out as part of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link found evidence of a 2nd to 3rd century building. The building lay only a few metres to the north of a 2nd century temple and was part of a wider ritual complex. Only the southern part of the building (structure 300157) was excavated. It overlay a succession of ciircular clay-floored structures (including 400041)and seems to have been c. 5m x 3.5m. On the basis of the pottery found at the site the building may have been constructed c. AD 150-175 and gone out of use c. AD 200. (1)
