Summary

Caretaker's bungalow and an associated WWII building with a blast wall located to the north-west of Langdon Battery, east of the Port of Dover. These two military structures are visible on aerial photography taken in 1945. Both buildings have been removed as of 1962.

Full Description

The site of the caretaker's bungalow and Officer's Quarters (Mess) belonging to Langdon Battery. It is located at the western end of the battery just within the perimeter boundary. It now lies within the National Trust Property. A veranda was lcoated at the north east side. Only the foundations remain and two granite gate posts. It provided sleeping accommodation for two officers and 22 men during war time. (1).

The main building was approximately 24 m x 9 m, whilst the additional building, 17 m to the north, was approximately 8 m x 4 m with a outer blast wall. Both buildings have been removed as of 1962, although the foundations are still identifiable [3].
