Full Description
The manufacture of Portland cement is a great Kentish industry and cement mills were established on this site in the 1830/40s by William Aspdin, whose original kiln survives on the Blue Circle site. Aspdin possibly located on the site of James Parker's works dating from 1792 (1). Blue Circle Industries' works includes a seventeen storey office building built in 1968-9 to designs by Yorke Rosenberg Mardall. (2). Area occupied by Lafarge Blue Circle Cement, there are many buildings and access is restricted making oit difficult to ascertain where the individual monuments in the area lie (3)
