Monument record TQ 87 NE 1032 - Site of probable World War II Radio masts, Grain Marsh, Isle of Grain

Summary

Four large radio masts were identified from aerial photographs taken shortly after World War II. These are thought to be part of the World War II defence system. The site of these masts was identified during a 2002 survey. Only iron supports for tension cables set in concrete and concrete platforms remain.

Full Description

4 large radio masts, WWII defence feature? Photographs (1-3). Site identified during 2002 survey and comprises iron supports for tension cables set in concrete that may indicate presence of former masts. Also, four large square concrete platforms observed (4).
