Summary

A Roman site of mid 1st century date, associated with salt manufacture. Discovered and surveyed in 1999 by Upchurch Archaeological Research Group. Finds included early to mid 1st century salt winning debris, evidence of firing areas, portable furniture and light structures.

Full Description

Ro sites of C1-2 at TQ 819 707 and TQ 818 708 identified by Upchurch Arch Group, probably associated with salt/pottery manufacture (1). 1999 survey confirms early to mid 1st century salt winning debris, evidence of firing areas, portable furniture and light structures (2).
