A Palaeolithic handaxe was found by W Whitaker in c. 1880s in a gravel pit on the north side of the road c. three-quarters of a mile to SW of Allhallows Church, Hoo (1). Present location of this handaxe is uncertain. Lower Palaeolithic handaxe was found in a gravel pit which was recorded three quarters of a mile south west of Allhallows Church. Object found by W Whitaker on Terrace 2 geology. (4)
