Full Description
In 2005 an archaeological evaluation was carried out in advance of the construction of Dartford Football Ground and ancillary development. The remains of a post medieval roadway were found, originally connecting Darenth Road with 'Bignores' (a former large country house and now Dartford Football Clubhouse). The road can be tracked via surviving earth works behind housing to the SW of the Site, which it enters on a NE-SW alignment.. Its course can be clearly mapped on the 1897 & 1938 OS maps. The surface is made up of a mixture of chalk and gravel. There a several sections of ditch running alongside the road [1]
