Full Description
Two WWII military buildings associated with other activity on the Cinque Ports Golf Links, north of Deal. The two closely constructed rectangular structures measure 5.5m by 3.2m and 3.5m by 3.5m and was first visible on military aerial photographs taken in February 1941 [1] and was mapped from a series taken in August 1941 [2].
The southern structure has been removed by 2001 [3] and the northern one is still present in 2008 [4]. The structures may have been used for storage or as observation points, since they are constructed beside a road.
An AMIE record exists for the northern building and is recorded as a octagonal pillbox, however this was not apparent on the aerial photographs.
A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
