Full Description

A linear defensive military feature dating to WWII is visible situated on the beach just north of Deal, and was mapped from military aerial photographs taken in June 1942 [1]. The feature measures 185m by c.9.5m and although its function is unknown, it is thought to perhaps be an obstruction preventing access onto the beach. It is situated between two lengths of beach scaffolding (MWX43276 and MWX43263). It is first visible by August 1943 [2] and gone by February 1946 [3].
A transcription of this feature recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
