Full Description
WWII earthworks visible on aerial photography taken in 1942 [1], located in Walmer. This record is comprised of two circular ditches of 3m diameter; two linear ditches 1.5m wide, by 2m and 8.5m long which ran WNW-ESE; and a series of parallel linear ditches. The parallel linear ditches were located in two groups, both orientated WSW-ENE; the W group was formed of nine ditches and the right of two ditches. The circular ditches were no longer visible on aerial photography taken in 1946 [2], but the linear ditches were still visible. The W group of linear ditches were still visible on aerial photography taken in 1976 [3]. These features were not visible on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2003 [4].
Located 130m to the SW was a similar circular ditch dated to WWII (MWX43638).
A transcription of the feature recorded from aerial photography exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
