Full Description
Possible former field boundaries of unknown date visible as cropmarks of two ditches and three banks, visible on aerial photographs taken in 1980 [1], located in Hacklinge. These features were located within one field in an area measuring 165 x 180m at maximum dimensions. All the earthworks were linear and orientated NW-SE. The northernmost bank was visible as a low, but still extant earthwork on aerial photography taken in 1946 [2], however it was not visible as a cropmark on aerial photography taken in 1980. These features were not visible on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2003 [3].
This site was crossed by an area of banked cropmarks and enclosures (MWX43702); and to the E was located a banked cropmark enclosure (MWX43700).
A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
