A lighthouse, with a white revolving light, is visible on the end of Folkestone Outer Harbour's southern pier on Epochs 1-4 (1877, 1899, 1908 and 1938) of historic 1:2500 Ordnance Survey mapping. The position of the lighthouse was given a monument point during historic mapping enhancement as part of Phase 1 of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey
