A lifeboat house and associated slipway and structures, located on the coast just north of Dungeness, are only visible on the Epoch 4 (1950) edition of the historic 1:2500 Ordnance Survey mapping [1]. The lifeboat house measures 20m by 6m and the slipway extends for 47m from this structure. Two smaller structures are visible; one directly behind the lifeboat house and one just to the north. The lifeboat house, small structure and slipway are situated on a raised platform.
None of these structures are visible on MasterMap (2009) [2]. It is possible that this lifeboat house has replaced another such feature to the north (MWX44061) that was only visible on the Epoch 3 mapping [3].
All the structures associated with the lifeboat house have been given individual monument polygons during historic mapping enhancement as part of Phase 1 of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey.
