Full Description
Second World War anti-aircraft landing obstruction poles are visible on aerial photographs of 1940 on the golf course to the north of Littlestone-on-Sea. These features were mapped from aerial photographs as part of the South East RCZAS NMP project. The arrangement of vertical anti-aircraft poles, intended to hinder landing, is centred at TR 0841 2580, and extends across an area measuring approximately 360m south-west to north-east, and 210m north-west to south-east. The plan view of the poles consists of two adjoining hexagons. The westernmost hexagon appears to be open on its western side. Two further areas of anti-aircraft poles are also visible on aerial photographs of 1940, located to the west and north of this group (Monument Numbers 1535073, 1535074). By the time of the vertical aerial photographs of 1941; these anti-aircraft obstructions appear to have been removed (1-2).
