Provisional work suggested it might be a hall. Described on plan as 15th century timber-framed buildings. (4-5) Nos 1-3 St Peter's Street. Much altered and extended 15th century Wealden house. Altered 16th-17th and 19th-20th century. (6)

Imported from the Canterbury UAD:
The Golden Lion was listed in one directory in the 19th century as being the third part of the Weavers [No 3 St Peter's Street], from Kings Bridge. For a short time the Golden Lion was known as the Red Lion.

Licensing Lists name the following as innkeepers;
1792 John Upton
1803 (directory used the address 3 St Peters Street)
1806 William Crouch
1838-1846 Edward Bigg

The inn was still trading in 1867, a definate closing date is not certain. (7)
