Nos 1 to 3 (The Weavers) St Peter's St [TR 14785794-OS 1:2500 1957] Dated 1500. This was one of the workshops of the Huguenot weavers. Timber-framed house restored, the timbering renewed and the infilling is now of roughcast. 2 storeys and attic. 3 gables. 3 windows, 1st floor overhangs on the protruding ends of the floor joists on the street front. Modern shop fronts facing the street. The river elevation has 5 gables and 5 restored mullioned and transomed bays with leaded lights. The interior has a renewed king post and a restored staircase. Wrought iron fire grate dated 1641. (1) Additional bibliography. (2-3) The Weavers, 1-3 St Peters Street. Structurally it appears that there are two medieval buildings No 3 and Nos 1 and 2. Provisional work suggested it might be a hall. Described on plan as 15th century timber-framed buildings. (4-5) Nos 1-3 St Peter's Street. Much altered and extended 15th century Wealden house. Altered 16th-17th and 19th-20th century. (6)

The Golden Lion was listed in one directory in the 19th century as being the third part of the Weavers [No 3 St Peter's Street], from Kings Bridge. For a short time the Golden Lion was known as the Red Lion.

Licensing Lists name the following as innkeepers;

1803 (directory used the address 3 St Peters Street)
1806 William Crouch
1838-1846 Edward Bigg

The inn was still trading in 1867, a definate closing date is not certain. (7)
