Abstract/Summary
A Watching Brief undertaken during pipeline construction work between the Hoo Wastewater Treatment Works and Whitehall Creek, 4km to the west, revealed two well defined clusters of archaeological features. These clusters were found in the stretch of pipeline between Cockham cottages and Vicarage Lane, to the south of St.Werburgh's Church.
Three main phases of activity were recorded; a Late Bronze Age phase, a Late Iron Age/Romano-British phase and an Early/Middle Saxon phase.
