Abstract/Summary
Report detailing archaeological recording work at the Cooperage, Oare gunpowder works. The standing structure is the remains of the south half of a longer building built between 1846 and 1863. From 1863 to 1920 it was used as a cooperage, in the middle of this building was a clock-tower. Later alterations included the insertion of additional openings; the demolition of the north end of the building, retaining the base of the clock-tower; and the blocking of the openings in several stages.
