Abstract/Summary
References a BGS borehole survey in 1972. Chalk geology lying between 2.1 and 5.8m below the current ground surface. Overlain by between 1 and 4m of gravels (the Taplow/Mucking terrace?) and alluvial? deposits above this. Concludes that the Mucking terrace lies between 0.6 and 1.8m below ground surface with any groundworks of this depth potentially impacting on Palaeolithic deposits.
