Abstract/Summary

Kent: Dover. 3 sheets of plans and sections of fortifications on the western heights. (1-2) 2 sheets of pencilled sketches, each showing a different scheme for the proposed South Front. (3) Sheet bearing sketch plan of the proposed casemates [i.e. fortified chambers], and a site plan. Reference table to sites of excavation and filling in. [?The casemate plan only] to scale: 1 inch to 10 feet. The casemate plan copied from a sketch by Captain E F Du Cane. Each sheet is endorsed with the name of Colonel [R J] Stotherd and the date 7 April 1860. Dimensions: (1) 73.5 cm x 128.5 cm; (2) 70.5 cm x 126 cm; (3) 99 cm x 147.5 cm.
