Abstract/Summary
An archaeological evaluation was carried out on land at The Grange, 42 Greenhill Road, Herne Bay in June and July 2006 on behalf of developers. Four trenches were machine excavated. Seventeen archaeological features were found, distributed between all four trenches, including pits; shallow linear ditch; postholes and metalled floor; possible gulley; early medieval pottery; medieval roof tile; daub and burnt flint; two prehistoric working flints and fragment of medieval basalt quern stone. Soil samples were also taken revealing a range of environmental evidence.
