Author/Originator | Canterbury Archaeological Trust |
Date/Year | 1997 |
Abstract/Summary
Evaluation trenching. A number of features were observed. In one trench a truncated subsoil was recorded along with a series of shallow, flat bottomed features. It is believed that these features represent a clay extraction quarry, in operation sometime between the 16th and 18th centuries. Trenches in the northern part of the site revealed a number of features associated with the Sheppey Light Railway.
