An archaeological evaluation carried out in 2017 found two medieval or post-medieval boundary ditches and a number of post medieval features. Location accurate to the nearest 1m based on available information.

The two ditches were at right-angles to each other, one running north-south, the other east-west. One of the ditches measured around 8.3m in visible length - extending beyond the limits of the evaluation trench. The trench was aligned N-S, curving to the S-W at its southern end and intersecting the other ditch which was E-W aligned. The second ditch measured around 6.7m in visible length (also extending beyond the excavation limits). The ditches measured around 0.47 - 1.28m in width and 0.15 - 0.40m in depth. Undated finds recovered from the ditches included common shellfish inclusions, rare animal bone, and 1 undated sheel thrown pottery sherd. The ditches contained no dating evidence and their identification as medieval or post-medieval was on the basis of their general form and character. The ditches do not appear on any 19th century OS maps, suggesting that they pre-date this period.

A number of pits, trenches and other features were also found that contained deposits consistent with the late 19th or early 20th century. Some of the features were associated with The Lodge ( TR 36 NW 1374); these included elements of a wall potentially associated with The Lodge's now demolished outhouse or a boundary wall, and a large pit containing 19th century inclusions.
