Monument record TR 34 SW 2744 - Medieval ditch on the eastern side of Dover Castle
Summary
Though the north eastern outer defences were substantially re modelled in the 18th century, they are among some of the earliest works to be completed at the castle. Henry II’s great rebuilding of the Castle which commenced in the 1170s included the construction of the outer bank and ditch against the curtain wall.
