During excavations ahead of development at Springhead an area of early Bronze Age activity was identified. Within this two clusters of Beaker pits were uncovered. The second cluster comprised a pair of pits, located approximately 30m to the east of the first group. The pits were 0.6m apart and both sub circular, one was 1.1m in diameter and 0.31m in depth, while the second was 1.16m in diameter and 0.7m deep. Both contained dump deposits containing flints (mainly flakes and debitage) and pottery sherds. Notable among the finds were the large portion of a single vessel and two flint knives. (1)
