Monument record TR 03 NW 136 - Early / Middle Iron Age occupation, Cheeseman's Green Area 3 (west)

Summary

An programme of archaeological work carried out from 2004 to 2016 found a focus of Early / Middle Iron Age occupation in Area 3 (west). Three inverted and nearly complete vessels were found in a nearly-square pit. These may have been ritually deposited. 3 m to the north, a large emount of Early Iron Age pottery was found in a possible hearth. Immediately to the west a series of intercutting pits and a gully contained Early / Middle Iron Age pottery and burnt and worked flint.
