These features included ditches, pits, post holes, not all of these could be securely dated but some some of were associated with sherds of later Prehistoric and/or Roman pottery.
In detail trench one revealed part of a wide linear feature (probably a ditch), the terminus of a second linear feature and a pit. The first had a NW-SE alignment and had a length of +1.80m and a width of 1.50m. The fill comprised light grey-brown silty brickearth. The second also had a NW-SE alignment. It had a length of +1.50m and a width of 0.35m. The fill comprised very light grey-brown silty brickearth. The pit was ovate in shape, had a slight NE-SW alignment and had a length of 0.80m, a width of 0.76m and a depth of 0.27m. The fill comprised dark grey-brown silty brickearth that contained CBM (possibly Roman) and very occasional animal bone.
Trench two revealed three pits and a post hole. The first pit was ovate in shape, had a N-S alignment and had a length of 0.74m, a width of 0.66m and a depth of 0.12m. The fill comprised mid grey-brown silty brickearth. The second pit was also ovate in shape, had a slight NW-SE alignment, a length of 0.64m, a width of 0.50m and a depth of 0.16m. The fill comprised mid-dark grey-brown silty brickearth. The third pit was also ovate in shape and had a NW-SE alignment. It had a length of 0.60m, a width of 0.50m and a depth of 0.10m. The fill comprised light-mid grey-brown silty brickearth. The post hole was circular in shape, had a diameter of 0.26m and a depth of 0.14m. The fill comprised dark grey-brown silty brickearth.
Trench three revealed part of a wide linear feature (probably a ditch) and two other linear features. The wide linear feature had a N-S alignment and had a length of +1.80m, a width of +1.70m and a depth of +0.35m. The fill contained pottery, worked flint, animal bone and Roman CBM (Tegula). The second linear feature had a NW-SE alignment. It had a length of +1.80m, a width of 0.25m and a depth of 0.22m. The fill was brickearth that contained worked flint. The third linear also had a NW-SE alignment and was parallel with the second. It had a length of +1.80m, a width of 0.60m and a depth of 0.18m. The fill contained occasional charcoal and produced worked flint.
Trench four revealed three linear features and a curvilinear (possible Ring-Ditch). The first linear feature had a NW-SE alignment and had a length of +3.50m and a maximum width of +1m. The fill comprised light grey-brown silty brickearth. The second linear feature had a NW-SE alignment. It had a length of +9m and a width of 0.35m. The fill also comprised light grey-brown silty brickearth. The third linear feature also had a NW-SE alignment. It had a length of +4.50m and a width of 0.40m. The fill comprised light grey-brown silty brickearth that contained prehistoric pottery. The curvilinear feature had a length of +3m (and if a Ring-Ditch, it may have a diameter c. 5-6m). It had a width of 0.50m and the fill also comprised light grey-brown silty brickearth.
Trench five revealed a single linear feature that had a slight E-W alignment and had a length of +1.80m, a width of 0.50m and a depth of 0.15m.
Trench seven revealed single, very wide and deep feature (probably part of the dyke) was at the northeast end. It probably has a NE-SW alignment and had a length of +1.80m and a width of +8m. the same feature was also observed in trench eight.
Two pits were also revealed alongside the dyke in trench eight: the first had a circular shape and a diameter of 0.70m. The fill comprised mottled light grey-brown silty brickearth that contained frequent charcoal, moderate fired clay and prehistoric pottery. The second also had a circular shape. It had a diameter of 1m and the fill comprised light grey-brown silty brickearth.
Trench 10 revealed a single, wide linear feature (probably a ditch) that had a slight NW-SE alignment and had a length of +1.80m, a width of 2m and a depth of 0.32m. This is the same feature as was observed in trench 4 and trench 11. The fill comprised mid grey-brown silty brickearth that contained pottery and worked flint. It was trucncated at the SE terminal end by a second linear feature that also had a NW-SE alignment and was observed for a length of 0.30m. It had a width of 0.30m and a depth of 0.22m.
Trench 12 revealed single linear feature which had a slight E-W alignment and had a length of +1.80m and a width of 0.50m. The fill comprised mid grey-brown silty brickearth. The continuation of this feature was observed in Trench 15. A pit was also seen in trench 15, this had an ovate shape, an E-W alignment and had a length of 0.84, a width of 0.60 and a depth of 0.16m.
