Full Description

Pre-Roman/early Roman features were excavated at 27 St Dunstan's Terrace, Canterbury in 2001-2002. These features comprised 3 ditches, a gully, a linear feature, a stake-hole, 11 post-holes, and over 10 pits. The features have been interpreted as potentially reflecting an agricultural phase of activity at the site, with the linear features representing a field system and fence line.

Features from an earlier (undated) phase of activity at the site include a linear feature, 9 small pits, and two cuts thought to originate from the same feature potentially representing a brickearth quarry (2.30-4.25m x 1.30-3.35m x 0.10-0.35m). These features are pre-Roman in date as they are cut by later features. (1)
