Monument record TR 36 SW 488 - Enclosure walling and ditches surrounding Minster Roman Villa

Summary

Multiple sections of the wall surrounding Minster Roman villa were revealed during excavations at the site. The surviving remains comprised shallow footings of rammed chalk, robber trenches were seen in some locations. Other features including the wall foundations of a small ancillary building, the position of the gate and the gate posts, rubbish pits and post holes representing fence lines were also uncovered as well as several ditches likely representing boundaries and enclosures in the landscape surrounding the villa complex.
