A later medieval or post-medieval quarry and trackway were identified at Melbourne Avenue, Ramsgate during an evaluation in 2021. (Location accurate to the nearest 1m based on available information). The visible cut of the quarry measured 11.5m in length and up to 0.84m in depth. The feature extended beyond the limits of the evaluation trench. The feature contained three fills of silty clay with chalk flecks, within which a single sherd of 13th-14th century pottery was identified which may have been residual in character.
Post-medieval chalk quarries are known in the vicinity of the site from Historic OS Maps, however, none of these features appear to relate to the quarry identified during the evaluation.

A flint metalled surface was also identified in this area of the site. This is thought to relate to a path or trackway and extended 2.5m by 1.8m in a triangular arrangement. This feature is parallel to a trackway visible on Historic OS Maps and is thought to date from the 18th or 19th century.

An undated post-hole was also recorded during the evaluation. This feature measured 0.40m in diameter and 0.13m in depth. No finds were associated with this feature. (1)
