Report on an archaeological evaluation carried out on land at the Former Newington CP School, Melbourne Avenue, Ramsgate, in 2021. The evaluation was completed ahead of proposed development comprising the construction of fifty-five residential properties at the site. Features identified at the site comprised a series of medieval ditches and pits interpreted as a medieval settlement. Post-medieval features included a quarry and chalk dump, alongside a flint cobbled trackway. Agricultural soils identified at the site suggest that that the wider landscape context of the site was agricultural between the medieval and the late post-medieval periods.
