Full Description
The cropmarks of part of a possible Iron Age to medieval trackway visible on OS/94013 V 119 10-MAR-1994 and Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 05-MAY-2018 aerial photographs. The track is aligned NE-SE and is defined by parallel side ditches with traces of a central hollow way indicating an extended period of use. The main section can be traced for c.650m. It widens towards its southern end where a perpendicular boundary ditch meets it from the west. The eastern trackway ditch continue south for a further 100m terminating close to a second fragment of ditch or boundary suggesting the track opens into a fragmented field system or settlement. A third fragment of perpendicular ditchextends west off the western side of the northern more complete section of the track. This track is one of a number which converge at Brooksend where there at the head of the former inlet before the mashes silted up in the medieval perieod. This feature was mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. (1-2)
