Full Description

Iron Age and Roman ditches and a pit were identified during a evaluation at the site of a new rising main from Long Length, Kingsnorth, Ashford, Kent to Waterbrook Avenue, Sevington, Ashford, Kent in 2020-2021.

The ditches measured 1.8-2.5+m in length, 0.5-2m in width, and 0.2-1m in depth. The pit measured 0.41m in width, and 0.17m in depth.

Artefacts including Iron Age and Roman pottery, ceramic building material, and fired clay (potentially related to iron working processes at the site) were associated with the features. (1)
