Full Description
Cropmarks of a sinuous linear ditch possibly Bronze Age or Iron Age in date visible on aerial photographs: NMR 2176/051 03-AUG-1984 and CUCAP YH22 16-JUN-1959 which has been mapped as part of the Historic England Thanet Landscape Mapping Project 2024. The ditch can be traced for c.390m, aligned NE-SWIt appears to curve around and respect a group of ring ditches of probable Bronze Age round barrow. The north-eastern end now lies beneath the campus of Hartsdown Academy and may have been destroyed. Part of this section of the ditch appears to have been dated to the Iron Age during archaeological evaluation by Hertfordshire Archaeological Trust, 2001, Hartsdown Technology College, George V Avenue, Margate, Kent, prior to the construction of the Academy - See TR 36 NW 400 (1-2)
