A heavy anti-aircraft gun battery of Second World War date was visible as structures and earthworks in RAF/HLA/564 V 6010 01-JUN-1942. It was enclosed by a barbed wire entanglement that also surrounded Cleve Court (MKE125777), all forming part of defences on the western flank of RAF Manston.

The battery included seven huts protected by blast walls and numerous other small buildings within the area enclosed by the barbed wire entanglement. There appear to have been at least six gun positions but the site was already being dismantled by the time of this photography and numerous spoil heaps are present in the central area of the battery. It was additionally served by two weapons pits and a long revetted slit trench.

These features were recorded as demolished structures/levelled earthworks in Next Perspectives APGB Imagery 07-APR-2021 (they had been removed to facilitate the building of new airfield services during the construction of RAF Manston's crash runway in 1943-44). They were mapped as part of the Historic England Isle of Thanet project in 2024. (1-2)
