Full Description

Medieval/post-medieval features were excavated at Herne Golf Course, Herne Bay during an evaluation in 2015. These included threee linears, one ditch, and one unidentified feature. The fetaures were dated by their association with medieval/post-medieval artefacts including pottery, brick, and tile. The placement of these features indicated potential for activity during the medieval period to the SW of the site, with some of the linear features potentially forming part of an agricultural landscape.
Finds including pottery, daub, and charcoal were identified in the fills of medieval/post-medieval features. Small quantities of marine shell and animal remains were identified at the site, however, these were undated so could have originated from any period between the prehistoric and the post-medieval.
