Full Description
A prehistoric ditch and a pit were excavated at Little Puxton Farm, Wickhambreaux during an evaluation in 2019. The ditch was aligned NE-SW and measured up to 2.5m in width, and 0.76m in depth, and the pit measured 1m in diameter, and 0.4m in depth. Prehistoric pottery, burnt flint, and a worked flint blade were recovered from the fills of these feature. The ditch also contained several fragments of tile, suggesting that either it dated from a later period and the prehistoric artefacts identified in its fill represented residual material, or that it had been recut during a later period.
Another linear feature was also identified during the excavation, however, the extent, character, and date of the feature were uncertain. (1)
