Full Description
Iron Age and Roman pits, ditches, and an enclosure were identified at Bodkin Farm, Whitstable during an evaluation in 2023. Five ditches were dated to the Late Iron Age/Roman period, four of which formed three sides of a large rectangular enclosure which contained artefacts dating to the Late Iron Age and Romano-British period, suggesting that this feature was in use during these time periods.
At least four Late Iron Age or Roman pits were excavated. A group of three sub-oval pits, one of which contained Roman pottery, were thought to have been associated with the enclosure. (1)
