Summary

A series of ditches and pits dating to the mid-late Roman period were identified during a 2018 excavation at Hoplands Farm, near Canterbury. These features were thought to be peripheral to a settlement possibly located to the southwest of the development site.

Full Description

A series of ditches and pits dating to the mid-late Roman period were identified during a 2018 excavation at Hoplands Farm, near Canterbury. Many of these features were intercutting, and some of the ditches may have formed part of a 4th century ditch system at the site. The pits and ditches contained pottery sherds dating between 50-425 AD.

These features were thought to be peripheral to a settlement possibly located to the southwest of the development site. (1)
