Full Description

In 1990 a desk based assessment along the route of Thanet Way was done. Sherds of flint tempered iron age pottery found on the surface of ploughed field east of the golf course in 1990. (1)

In 1991 an archaeological evaluation was carried out by Canterbury Archaeological Trust at various sites along Thanet Way. Two features were found. The first was a small shallow pit and it contained burnt clay. 7-8 scraps of Late Bronze Age/Early Iron Age type flint-tempered pottery were discovered. Nothing diagnostic but perhaps dating to around c.850-55 BC. (2)
