Monument record TQ 76 SE 60 - White Horse Stone, Pilgrims Way and Late Iron Age/Early Roman activity west of Boarley Farm, Boxley
Summary
There seems to have been a shift of settlement to the south east of the Pilgrims Way during the late Iron Age and early Romano-British period. There is no absolute evidence for settlement during this time but several posthole structures and alignments have been found. Cremations, pits and animal burials have also been discovered at the Pilgrims Way and west of Boarley Farm. It is possible that the site was used for agricultural purposes during the Late Iron Age and Early Romano British era.
A number of field boundaries and drainage ditches in levels above the late Bronze Age settlement support the theory that the area was used for agricultural purposes only during the Roman-British period.
