Full Description
The evaluation revealed a very small number of dated and undated features, predominantly modern or of natural origins. Archaeological features consisted of a pair of wheel ruts, a trackway and a small pit, all of which were probably post medieval in date. The potential for medieval or prehistoric remains in association with fieldwalking finds was not realised.
Some early and late Bronze Age pottery was recovered from colluvial deposits within the valley floor, however, they were not in situ and no settlement evidence was recorded which may be associated with the colluvial development(1).
A possible Allerød soil identified during the evaluation was subject to a follow-up excavation but it was not identified again(2).
