Full Description
Single course of larger angular flints which seemed to have been neatly laided. No datable evidence was found in the layer although small pieces of daub were found in a layer below this. Although the level of the surface is higher than the flint surfaces found by Harrison at Northgate in 1974 the discrepancy does not preclude them being the same. There was no evidence of the Roman ditch found at Northgate in 1974.(1,2)
