Full Description
During trench evaluation for new house, a pit and four gullies were discovered. The gullies ran parallel, approximately n-s, two of which representing recutting and were approximately 0.50-65m wide. It is probable that they belong to the same period and may represent successive replacements of a single ditches bounday of the Roman period, but further work would be required to answer this. The pit to the west of the gullies is of uncertain date. It produced the only sherd of pottery found, dated to the LIA-E Roman period, but also contained struck flints of a broad Neolithic-Bronze Age date.(1)
A follow up watching brief was kept on further development work. The extent of gullies previously located was further defined and although of the same general period the date is still uncertain.(2)
