Monument record TR 15 NE 417 - Early Medieval Activity Near Diocesan House, 26 Broad Street, Canterbury

Summary

Two excavations carried out in 1992 at 'Diocesan House,' 26 Broad St, Canterbury for deep new foundations for office block extension. A number of pits and post holes were found, along with two hearth structures, but not forming any coherent pattern. Pottery found dates from the 700’s to late 900’s. The activity found may represent small scale industrial activity on the site. As sometime the area seems to have gone out of use.
