Full Description

Evaluation prior to mineral extraction produced evidence of a number of pits and post-holes. Seven possible post holes were found, only one of which contained flints. The sides of these holes were generally steep or sloping with flat bottom. No shape or pattern could be seen. Fourteen pits were also excavated scattered across the site. Six produced finds, flints and pottery sherds from at least three vessels one of which was a cup. The bronze age-iron age site seems to have been heavily damaged by ploughing and many features may have already been lost. Another feature, a deep tapered shaft was also recorded, but remains undated.(1,2)
